Slacklining in the Lake District, England

In spring of 2021 my friends and I were slacklining frequently, and the next logical step-up in difficulty from practicing a few feet above grass seemed to be walking over water. We found a pleasant spot with sturdy pilings on the public docks, but we didn’t initially consider that setting up our line in such a prominent place would attract a crowd of 30 or 40 onlookers, adding a bit of pressure for a novice first attempt. After finally gaining the courage to step out over the frigid water, Cadie of course made it to the other side on her first try to the applause of the crowd. I, on the other hand, didn’t have the same initial success, splashing repeatedly into the cold. I eventually made it, but the walk wasn’t as impressive or comfortable while dripping wet and shivering. It definitely would have been more enjoyable in the summer.
